Android, iOS, and web differences

Understand which Salli capabilities are available on each platform.

The ledger and planning model are shared across platforms, but operating-system privacy rules affect capture and device integrations.

Android

  • Supported bank-SMS auto-tracking after prominent disclosure and explicit READ_SMS / RECEIVE_SMS permission.
  • Up to 30 days of inbox backfill when tracking starts.
  • Background processing for new supported alerts.
  • Home-screen Safe to Spend widget with amounts hidden by default.
  • Local notifications restored after reboot.
  • Receipt OCR on supported physical devices.

iPhone and iPad

  • Manual transactions, receipt capture, planning, reports, backups, and device-auth app lock.
  • No arbitrary SMS-inbox access; Apple does not expose it to third-party apps.
  • Receipt OCR targets physical devices on iOS 15.5 or later.
  • The current Google ML Kit binary does not link on Apple-silicon iOS simulators, so OCR testing requires a real iPhone or iPad.

Web and automated tests

The web build supports development and UI testing with an in-memory store. It is not the production financial-data target and does not provide native SMS, secure-storage, receipt-camera, widget, or notification behavior.

Design differences

Current Android builds preserve Salli's familiar navy-and-gold visual style. iOS and web use the newer emerald-led Ledger palette. Information hierarchy, labels, and behavior remain consistent.
